Keeping the coasts clean

Atlantic Canada boasts some of the most breathtaking coastal trails, hiking paths, serene beaches, and renowned surfing points. However, a significant issue plagues these natural wonders—improper waste disposal infrastructure. Our region often lacks the essential systems needed to manage waste along these pristine coastlines.

Surfrider Atlantic Canada recognizes the urgency of addressing this problem, and we're committed to taking action. Our mission is to collaboratively engage with local communities, governments, and like-minded organizations dedicated to preserving the beauty of our coastlines.

Ghost gear, in particular, plays a substantial role in polluting our shores. Discarded fishing nets, lines, and traps continue to entangle marine life and disrupt the fragile balance of our marine ecosystems.

As we embark on this journey, we aim to make a significant impact by establishing comprehensive waste disposal solutions. By involving communities, advocating for government support, and partnering with organizations passionate about coastal preservation, we believe we can make a difference.

Join us in our efforts to create a cleaner, more sustainable Atlantic Canada. Together, we can tackle this challenge head-on and ensure that our coastlines remain pristine for generations to come.
